Activities - Gastronomy & wine

Basque Country takes great pride in its gastronomy, and particularly in the quality of its products. Donostia-San Sebastian is the town in the world with the biggest amount of Michelin-guide stars, 16 in all. Three restaurants have three stars each, only a city like Paris can match it! Both Dagens Nyheter´s article by Anna-Lena Stålnacke “Stjärnregn över Baskien” and Urban Nilmander´s “Smakfest i  San Sebastián” in the newspaper Svenska Dagbladet refer to it.

Delicious dishes cooked on selected local products are served with Rioja wines or “txakoli” (Basque pearling white wine) in the restaurants and bars. Gastronomy is a natural part of daily life!

Readers from well-known trip reviews like CN Traveler have chosen Donostia-San Sebastián as one of the must what regards eating experiences, hard to find somewhere else.

USA review “Boston Globe” recommends its readers to cross the Atlantic Ocean for the sake of having dinner at Restaurante Arzak

Rioja Alavesa is synonymous with good wine. Located on the banks of the river Ebro, on the slopes of the Cantabria Mountain Range, it will captivate you with its wealth of cultural references, its monuments, history and landscape. You will be amazed by its traditional and ultramodern wineries marked by around four hundred vineyards and surprising medieval villages.

A walk through the vineyards steeped in history, a meeting with the winemakers, a day where to live and taste the hard and difficult work from the moment of the harvest until the label is in the bottle will enjoy your tour, where a gastronomic lunch can be held in a carefully chosen location.
